Trick Tip: How To Carve On A Snowboard

Winter is coming, and you finally want to get back on your snowboard?

Or are you an absolute beginner and want to learn snowboarding finally? No matter how you should always be familiar with the basics of snowboarding. One of them is carving. Carving means that you only turn your snowboard with the edge shape (sidecut) of your board. When carving, you keep a lot of speed in your turns; this is not only good for all-mountain riding but is also super useful for pipe and in the setup for spinning jumps.

But why should you carve?

Here comes the turn. You don't carve most of the time. But carving is a mixture of different turning techniques, depending on the situation and thus helps you to build a good feeling for your board and to learn the method.

But there are two areas on the slope where you carve a lot.

  • Freestyle / park
  • Steep slopes

On the latter you can practice cool high-speed carves on a groomed track, the first is the perfect basis for new cool tricks this season.
